Same for me, it's caused by the fact the Mario Mash-up is gate-kept (platform-restricted), you know, the pop-up saying "uhh the skin is platform restricted" when trying to create or enter a world, that's because it has "platform_locked" enabled in the skin pack. Community ports do not have "platform_locked" enabled and hence this problem can't be reproduced by the way, but you can now vote MCPE-243495 in Mojang Bug Tracker.

In fact some of them flew out of my radar because I was using a community port on other device (think of it like "parallel import" in outside territory) that are not gate-kept, and I didn't expect the gates to be tighter in 26.52 by the way, and thought "hey, it must be issue with patience", or "could be solved if the skin was equipped on the main menu", until I did that myself on Nintendo Switch.

I can't think of a work around on Switch, other than using Sunny (one of default characters) instead of Luigi.

Think of it like rogue guards forcefully changing users into a default outfit everytime they entered a place in a themed outfit just because the themed outfits are region locked / race restricted, these guards were added to force people into wearing default outfit when they broke the outfit's ability to morph into another one. However, these guards are of malpractice so they are also in local area, even in most of your "room" (though not in changing room), the guards force you into wearing the default outfit even if the outfit was functional and doesn't morph because it was in a "suitable" area.

Or in other word, this bug might be intended to just defeat workarounds I invented that were used to break out of place it is reserved to separate in (or racism), but it is bugged so it replaces the skin even if the player is on single player, or Switch-specific multiplayer (because I tested all)

But hey at least MCPE-243495 was created, so you can upvote MCPE-243495 in Mojang Bug Tracker.

Suggested solutions from MCPE-239565 are to remove the new skin gate, or two other, including making the Super Mario Mash-up Pack’s fate go north by "(Licensed Content) Super Mario Mashup" from Minecraft Feedback.

Per MCPE-243495: As you probably know, the Platform Restriction was, and is a bad key (keys that are unreliable and may break during use), and even a key blocker (a thing that blocks doors from opening, so even legitimate users can’t open it’s door) for me on Switch (and other players), it had been a key blocker in MCPE-239565, and so I think making the Super Mario Mash-up Pack not platform restricted is one of (if not only) well-made keys (suggested solution), and so there would be no key blockers that could worsen the experience with the Mario Mash-up (on Switch) ever again.

I have uploaded a workaround add-on to allow use of some skins (if you used the skins on the Nintendo Switch, then it's "again"), but it ironically requires a PC or mobile device, more on MCPE-243495 from Mojang bug tracker (or you could just skip importing to Switch and use the add-on on devices you want).

I do not intend to make all skins work on the add-on, as there are some compatibility issues, and maybe in event the Super Mario Mash-up Pack was made officially to PC and mobile (or MCPE-243495 was fixed on Switch), other skins would be usable again.

I also did some troubleshooting on (and tests with) the skin pack on my Switch, also in MCPE-243495.

This issue is not limited to these cases; it also affects PlayStation-exclusive *LittleBigPlanet* skins, as well as custom skins that are not compatible with cross-platform play. Essentially, skins that cannot be made available on other platforms due to licensing restrictions are currently unusable. If this bug persists, it will cause problems when the *Minecraft* version for the "Switch 2" launches on October 27th—specifically, players will be unable to use Mario-themed skins.

Despite the mash-up pack now being less usable than when it was in ≤26.50 (skins still get forcefully replaced with a default skin in some cases), this issue (MCPE-243495 in Mojang Bug Tracker) is mostly fixed in 26.60.
