Passive mode option minecraft

I love playing on peaceful mode, I enjoy the effort of gathering materials in Minecraft but I wish it was more possible to progress in the game mode, eg, no enderpearls makes getting eye of ender much harder. In a "passive mode" all hostile mobs would still spawn and be passive, not attack the player, however it would still enable the player to progress in the game as much as the other game options.

  My sister and I have a similar idea, where we have suggested the mobs only attack when provoked. I think these 2 ideas go hand in hand quite nicely, means we can still progress and get survival based mob drops at our own pace!
