In all my time playing I've never been to the mansion as they don't offer anything unique but now I will definitely go visit one to get a bunch of allay. The allay are super agile and can be hard to interact with especially I imagine for people on touch screen. I think maybe have a totem like offhand object that maybe slows the allay or lures them towards you, maybe you find it in the mansion. I get they follow you after you give them an item but as soon as you take it back they dart around and it makes using them quite challenging. I can see a few bugs with the item dropping which will be fixed but maybe the allay could be linked to a specific note block, this could help with sorting. The 30 second timer is kinda a big nerf, I don't know the intention behind this idea maybe it's performance but if for example a farm or whatever it maybe does not drop the item in that time, the allay will cause the system to break which can cause the allay to again fly around and seek the player or just idle. Also I gave the allay an emerald and then went out of render distance to it (tp 1000 blocks then back), came back and it was gone. I don't know if this is related to the chunk border mob disappearing bug but the item it held is gone and also the allay is gone which being that they can't be bred or found respawning could be a big issue going forwards if this bug persists. Great work on this update, the features are really exciting and allow for a lot of new contraptions and ideas.

Make the Allay be attached to the noteblock until the note is changed rather than defaulting to the player over time. Or make the timer much longer.

Honestly, I feel like there needs to be some sort of item that you can use to lure the Allay, since when it isn't following the player it can be annoying to catch it. Maybe some sort of ancient lyre could work? A lyre would honestly fit the Allay pretty well as a sort of accompanying item.

I haven't played the beta but from what I've seen on YouTube it looks very fun and adorable! The Allay brings a sense of joy I haven't felt from many new mobs over these past few years. Collecting items appears to be a tad buggy because there was never really a flattening on Bedrock. The note lock interaction is great but I really hope the dance animation from Minecraft Live is added. As for general ideas, I'm thinking, like how you can cure zombies villagers, since vexes appear to be corrupted allays, maybe they can be curable to be made good again? Also maybe giving an Allay a music disc does something special. I feel like the Allay is a fantastic mob and I am excited to see what happens with it!

I think you should make it to where the allay will always stick to the notebook once u activate it, destroy it do make the allay come back to u. Also we need a way to make the allay come to us. I was thinking the goat horn or a new item that can be obtained by the vex. Please fix these 2 major issues and thank u.

Currently the Allay are difficult to use for automation because they don’t stay in 1 place, especially with auto mining machines.  They also also quite useless for auto sorting at the moment because they get confused between noteblocks.

    My suggestions:

Have 1 Allay assigned per note block, but assign them permanently (Similar to villagers).

Have them stay by that note block until it’s broken. (This would allow them to not be blown up from automatic mining machines when collecting things.)

Have them be immune to fire.  (they tend to path into fire and lava a lot).

Maybe have them be immune to explosions too?

Have some way of renewable allay (appear sometimes after high level raids?)

I think the 30 second cooldown is unnecessary. It's defeats the purpose of the allay - which is to use it as an item collection system for farms -, beacuse now you are unable to automate it and have to stand there.

The allay is cool! Just one thing thought

i want away to transport the allay without it being to far, like, a block similar to transporting bees from another from collecting the bee hive using silk touch.

I feel like the allay just roams around, I try to give it a item and it hardly follows me, I feel like the note block should be able to have the ability to assign a allay to a certain noteblock, I also think they should spawn in caves, mineshafts and end cities!

Make it so that when you give the Armorstand an item, Allay will throw him the same Items.
How do you like that idea?

I think that the Allay should spawn in the Nether.

The playful nature and enthusiasm of the Allay make this mob as the perfect friend that you could have during the scary adventure into the Nether, helping you with Piglin Bathering or finding a Nether fortress.

This nice relation with the Piglin would explain why the Allay has the ability to dance and its familiarity with music because of its connection with the piglin race, their dance, and disc (pigstep). The time that the Allay has been in the Nether makes it to a expert in its envionment, for that reason the Allay would have the capacity to direct you (the player) to the nearst Nether fortress, like the dolphin mehchanic added in 1.13. This last point will make an fun and in-game solution for the problem of the difficulty in finding a fortress added in 1.16 due to the all the biome changes.

I hope you like this idea for the original and great mob that is the Allay. Thanks for read it <3.

make allays dance when they link to noteblocks and when they deliver the item to the owner.
its would make the allay more lively

    Allay spawning in the wild
make allays spawn in some select biomes but it will be much rare like the spawn rate of a brown sheep but on select biomes, (giving the lore that illagers are hunting them and turning them into vexes) making natural allays rare to find compared to captured ones

Like someone already mentioned, i think it would be really nice to have the allay appear next to your after completing a raid, as if they switched sides from vex to allay to help the player. Another option would be using some method to capture/convert vex to alley- as you would with zombie villager to villager. And there should be a way to make sure a allay stays next to- or "connects" to a certain note block, and only drops items at it when it's triggered.

Loving the Allay's design so far, it's really cute in-game!
The biggest problems seem to be obtaining lots of them, and their abilities to sort/interact with noteblocks at the moment.

The first change I would make would be to have Allays assign themselves to a specific noteblock as a 'workstation' similar to what villagers do. A particle when choosing a noteblock would help us to know that the Allay is assigned. Breaking the noteblock would release the Allay to following the player/normal depending on if an item is held.

The second change addresses their rarity. Currently, how you first obtain Allays is honestly perfect, a fun reward for exploring your world, for a fun and useful mob. But once a player has their hands on a few, it should be easier to get more in the case that some die, or despawn, or if the player needs lots of them for a storage system, etc. I propose that Allay's will also follow the player/be attracted to when the player holds music discs, and I would make them be able to breed only when 2 Allays are close to a jukebox playing a disc. Maybe they could have an additional requirement like pandas do, where they also have to be holding a cookie or some other item.

Some people are suggesting they be immune to lava and fire. I can see that working, or maybe their AI just needs improving so they know to avoid those things. Really the most important change is that they don't despawn at all. As a utility mob that's hard to get, making them persistent is a must.

I think the Allay should dance like it did in the trailer. I might not have voted for it if it wasn't so cute when it danced. False advertising unless you make it dance

I know that this might sound cliche, but I think that Allays should be tamable. I know that Allays can follow, when carrying an item, but even if an Allay’s not carrying an item, I think that the Allay should still be able to follow, and even sit, and teleport to the player. Because when adventuring through caves, with the Allay; I know that the Allay can path-find around obstacles, but if the Allay was tamable it would be able to easily teleport to the player, if somehow the Allay were to fall behind, or if a player somehow loses track of where their Allay is, which will in turn have it to where players can keep better track of their Allays. And if the Allay was tamable, it wouldn’t have to be holding an item, in order to be following the player around; and the Allay could have an option to sit, and or stay floating in one place, if a player wants to easily give it an item without the hassle of the Allay flying all around them, as it would be hard to give the Allay an item, otherwise. And lastly, I think that if the Allay were to be tamable, it should have an immunity to lava, as when players adventure into caves with their Allay, there would be an abundance of lava, and since the Allay is a rare mob, I think that lava shouldn’t be able to hurt it; because ultimately a lot of players would lose their Allay, when mining. I’m sorry for the abundance of feedback; I’m really looking forward to the Allay, I think it’s a cute mob, and I know that it’ll be a wonderful mob.

When I first tried out the Allay, I decided to give an Allay a specific block, then leave a trail of blocks to lead an Allay to a base I built, which contains a note block (that’s the Allay’s home). So it’s cool to use the Allay as a pet.

Only problem is that they have no sound. Adding sound for the mob would be nice.

The allay is a very fun mob with a lot of potential. However, there is still a ton of things I would consider changing about how the allay works.

One thing I would change about the allay is the removal of the 30 second note block timer. The timer is a major obstacle when it comes to allay powered item sorting and automation possibilities. Although at first glance it seems that this problem can be alleviated with the simple application of a redstone clock to the note block to continually update the allay, problems arise when trying to sort items with multiple allay tied to their own note blocks. Having to continually update the allay will cause one allay originally assigned to a noteblock assigned to one item to become reassigned to a note block assigned to an entirely different item, crushing the possibility for the allay to be used in item sorting contraptions. In addition to removing the timer, I would also have the allay ignore all other noteblocks when it is already tied to one. Without this, item sorters would be very difficult to build. Doing these would void the allay of such issues. Allay should be tied to a noteblock up until the point the block is removed.

Another thing I would make sure the allay can do is continue dropping items near noteblock they are assigned to even when the person that gave them the item is far away. Allay should also stay within a radius of the noteblock they are assigned to instead of following the player when he/she leaves the area.

The Allay is extremely difficult to use. Interacting is painful as it kept flying around. Being skittish is cute, but having a lure item that draws them close and temporarily stops them from moving is needed. Please allow the use of leads on Allays!

Allays should try to link to the closest activated note block permanently, similar to villagers. Having to play sounds constantly will only make your base laggier & noisier. Don't let them wander too far away from the assigned noteblock. If the block breaks, the link breaks. Add an achievement for Allays, players new to Minecraft won't know about this feature. Ideally, they should accurately drop items at hoppers near the noteblocks.

Minimize lag for Allays. Item entities need to be less laggy to make farms & the wither boss more manageable. A larger item-clump radius? An option to render items as flat 2D sprites? Less collision checks per tick?

Allays are too rare and non-renewable. Along with mansions & outposts, they should also spawn naturally in the forests at night. It'll look amazing! Currently, there's NO reason to travel at night in Minecraft. Most players will sleep. If they want mob drops, they build mob grinders. A helpful passive mob spawning exclusively at night will be one reason to spend the night.

I like the Allay's design so far, but it really needs unique sound effects. We can also give it unique drops, to give the Allay multiple uses. There hasn't been a unique new mob drop in a long time.

The allay as a mob is amazing; however, they are too much of a pain to acquire. In my opinion, you shouldn't have to travel thousands of blocks to find a few allays, then somehow trek them back home; all for a mob that helps you be lazy, then eventually die because they are limited. I think there should be a unique but costly method of breeding them. Here are a few ideas:

    - Breeding involving diamonds. Since allays have a certain interest in music, it would make sense for them to be attracted to diamonds considering they are the same color, and diamonds are used to craft jukeboxes. Diamonds are nonrenewable, meaning this would be a significant level of cost to grow the population. Now I don't know how exactly the breeding would work. Maybe it could like other mobs, just right clicking a pair with a diamond. Or it could be a more complex method, requiring multiple conditions like villagers.

    - Some sort of curing process. It's pretty well-known that allays are a counterpart of the vex. So, what if there was a way to convert one to the other. More specifically, vexes to allays. This could include a combination of potion effects and valuable items, similar to the conversion of zombie villagers. Or it could be a combination of conditions that focus on lore. Either way would be intuitive and would definitely make the game feel more immersive.
