I am proposing a new, atmospheric way to light up Jack o' Lanterns using fireflies found in nature. Instead of just using a torch to craft them, this feature would allow players to interact with the environment to create natural lighting.
The Mechanic:
1. Placement: A player places a standard "Carved Pumpkin" near a shrub that spawns fireflies.
2. Infusion: Over time, fireflies from the shrub have a chance to enter the Carved Pumpkin.
3. Light Stages: The pumpkin’s light level increases based on how many fireflies are inside:
1 Firefly: Dimmed glow.
2 Fireflies: Lightly dimmed glow.
3 Fireflies: Standard "Lighted" glow.
5 Fireflies: Bright/Brilliant glow.
4. Day/Night Cycle: To maintain the realism of the fireflies, at the break of dawn, the fireflies would leave the pumpkin and return to their home shrubs, causing the pumpkin to revert to a regular Carved Pumpkin until the next night.
Why this adds value:
Immersion: This encourages players to build gardens and bases near firefly-rich biomes, making the world feel more alive.
Aesthetic Choice: It provides a "natural" alternative to traditional torch or lantern lighting, which would be perfect for players who prefer a rustic or cozy building style.
Dynamic Lighting: The fact that the light fades during the day adds a sense of realism and movement that static blocks currently lack.
