Revert the 26.2-pre-2 changes on Attribute Swapping

On the latest snapshot you can no longer quickly swap from one item to another and retain its attributes/use case. This change not only patched PvP techniques (breach swapping, lunge swapping, ...) used by tens if not hundreds of thousands of players, but it also makes performing actions quickly much more difficult.

For example, a use case of the previous item switching system was a technique often referred to as 'Breach Swapping'. By holding a fully charged Netherite Sword with an attribute of 8 attack damage you would quickly switch to a Mace with the Breach IV enchantment and click. What this would do is take the attack damage of the sword and practically apply it to the Mace, making the Mace deal the sword's damage while retaining its properties of performing smash attacks and being enchanted with breach.

This 'bug' is no longer simply an error in the game's code, as its been in the game for so long that it has been accepted by players as a staple of the game rather than a problem that needs to be fixed.

This still stands after 26.2-pre-3, since they claim that Attribute Swapping will be patched in future snapshots.

    I hate this bug. It made the PvP so unfun to play it's game breaking overpowered and unbalanced. Can be automated with a simple Marco and creates an artificial skill gap which is not real. This bug should be removed and the weapons getting rebalanced about it being gone. It's very annoying inconsistent and just unfun to play against.

    I don't think they're gonna revert this, pvp servers have to stay on older versions or use plugins to add attribute swapping

    PLEASE REMOVE IT SO MANY PLAYERS ARE GONNA QUIT. THIS CAN BE RIGHT. THE WHOLE PVP COMMUNITY IS DEPENDENT ON ATTRIBUTE SWAPPING. YOU CANT JUST REMOVE TECHNIQUES THAT ARE SO NECESSARY FOR CRYSTAL PVP OR MACE/ SPEAR MACE PVP. PLEASE JUST CHANGE IT BACK.

    이건 절대로 pvp에만 영향을 주는게 아닙니다.
    야생을 하거나 건축을 할 때도 게임 플레이가 심각할정도로 불편해집니다.
    반드시 롤백해주십시오.
    pvp에서는 게임모드가 사라질 뿐만 아니라 검을 제외한 모든 모드가 영향을 받으며 지금까지의 쌓아온 수많은 pvp 기술들이 사라집니다.

    I thought this was a fake news but i officially saw it on a post this will make minecraft pvp less interactive and ruin the whole pvp community we want it back to make pvp community as it was

    Yes this ruins more than half of every existing PvP gamemode, Mojang and Microsoft have to take care of every community in minecraft

    This is literally worst Minecraft update not only it affects much of pvp techniques such as pearl catching, attribute swapping, xbow carting, and it complete nerfed crystal pvp to doing where it is unplayable. Some game modes like spear pvp is dead even mace pvp is maybe dead because of this change

    Don’t remove it, it’s not a buff for players and it needs skill to be done and removing this will make players quite or maybe just play lower versions

    this change is a horrible idea and will ruin pvp. attribute swapping is one of if not the most important mechanic in minecraft pvp and if it is removed entire gamemodes will become unplayable. all that will happen from removing it is people will add mods into the game that re add it just like with stunning.

    This change also made cart pvp, crystal pvp much slower,
    Don’t ruin the fun of the game for the dedicated players mojang
    This is like a stab in the back for all my fellow pvp enthusiasts. The only people I've seen celebrating are casual players who don’t know this existed.

    Removing attribute swapping is destroying so many pvp techniques and making the game unplayable for players who trained attribute swapping months. It's definitely a feature, not a bug

    Why would we remove something that was useful in every possible PvP technique. Every one used it and it was excepted. Why would we delete this? Just leave this in the Game an make PVP SMOOTH again.

    This basically removed all the mechanics from not only mace and crystal but even smp, axe and even pot. I believe this change was / is completely unnecessary and if not changed by mojang ; will be changed by server owners through plugins and mods. As an extra I will be listing off all the combat mechanics rendered completely useless from this change : safe anchoring, shield disabling, using splash potions, totem anchoring, breach swapping, vertical pearl catch, horizontal pearl catching, lunge swapping, divebombing, stun slamming, fast crystal, hit placing crystals, flower anchors, sword att swapping (i.e knockback, fire aspect etc), ledge dashing, ravine rushing, th3bes anchor, dtaps and triple taps, airplacing, stun dtap, stunning, pearl flashing, double potting. And I'm sure there's way more that I haven't included, but I believe that should help you grasp the sheer volume of the changes done.
