I think that beacons should do different things based on the ore used to make them. Iron would do one thing, diamond another etc. I suggest keeping iron the current beacon- applying an effect to nearby players, as it think this is a good feature that doesn't need to be removed. Emeralds could increase crop yield, crop growth speed, and villager trade restocking speed. Diamonds could apply a kind of "super fortune", increasing ore drops within the radius. Redstone could supercharge components, increasing the piston push limit, increasing tnt explosions, dispenser accuracy etc. Copper could allow players to change the weather, keeping it perpetually sunny, or even snowy/ thundering at higher levels. Lapis could increase level gain from experience orbs. Coal could damage mobs over time like the conduit. Gold could increase the player's reach. Netherite could be a "stasis field", keeping the time of day the same, preventing all mobs from spawning, grass/ crops from growing and so on. It would make sense that as the size of the beacon increases so does the range/ power of the effect. In summary, I want this change because it would Allow beacons to keep all of their current uses whilst also adding many new awesome ones to the game, which would add a lot of end game activity/building possibility. Farms would use emerald beacons, spooky builds would use netherite/copper, huge builds would use gold. I feel beacons could offer much more without having to offer less.
