Description:The introduction of the P2P multiplayer and Friends List system in 26.2 Snapshot 7 is an amazing milestone for Java Edition. It makes playing together easier than ever. However, to make this system truly seamless, especially for modded gameplay, Minecraft needs a way to separate mods per world.Currently, Java Edition loads all mods globally from .minecraft/mods. If a player wants to host a specific modded world for their friends using the new "Online" multiplayer option, everyone must manually swap out their global mod files to match. This ruins the "instant join" experience that Snapshot 7 aims to achieve.I propose adding a dedicated mods folder inside each individual world save folder. How it works with the new 26.2 features:
Seamless P2P Modding: When a host opens their world to friends via the new P2P system, Minecraft can automatically detect and verify the mods inside that specific world folder.
Instant Client Sync: In the future, when a friend clicks "Join" from the Friends List, the game could sync or check the world-specific mods directly, ensuring no version mismatches or connection rejections.
No More Global Mess: Players can switch between a vanilla-ish P2P world with Friend A, and a heavy tech-modded P2P world with Friend B, instantly from the main menu without restarting the game to swap files.Integrating world-specific mod folders would elevate the new social features of the "Chaos Cubed" update to the next level for the modding community.G
