With the addition of custom dimensions in the new Bedrock preview, it's time to be direct: it's now definitively moving towards the creation of complete mods. This makes the current addon model, with separate textures and behavior, outdated.
A complete unification of both into a single .mcmod file is not only a reality but necessary, as it would provide a leap in quality and also remove the behavioral breaks that occur when we have the famous "addon packs" in our maps. The old model considered a single addon per map.
This has changed. Bedrock is now on a clear path: real mods, capable of existing in various quantities per created world. This necessitates updating the current style to a newer one.
Forget .mcaddon files and BP folders; it's time for RP to be only for vague and common textures, making the mods folder real and separating things in order. Furthermore, in the future, it might be possible to create, I don't know, a crossover with Java, allowing the same mods to run with real and equal performance on both.
