Currently, killing a patrol captain drops an Omen Bottle. Players get Bad Omen only by drinking it, then trigger a raid in a village. This makes "Hero of the Village" feel ironic — players actively create the crisis and then solve it themselves.
My suggestions:
1. When you kill a patrol captain:
• The remaining pillagers will flee and run away instead of attacking.
• They disappear after running a certain distance.
• At this time, the captain does not drop an Omen Bottle, and the player does not get Bad Omen.
2. Bad Omen rule:
• If any pillager successfully escapes and disappears, you gain Bad Omen (they go to report back).
• If you kill all fleeing pillagers, you get no Bad Omen.
3. Omen Bottle changes:
• Remove it from survival drops.
• Keep it only in Creative inventory and via commands, for testing raids.
Benefits:
• Survival is more logical: raids are started by pillagers, not the player.
• "Hero of the Village" is no longer ironic, but a real reward for protecting the village.
• Adds choice: spare enemies = risk a raid; kill all = peace for the village.
• Keeps the Omen Bottle for creators to test raids easily.
