Coral blocks should be craftable using coral fans and other coral pieces to improve consistency and player progression. Currently, coral blocks can only be obtained by collecting them directly from warm ocean biomes, which limits accessibility and discourages creative building, especially for players who don’t live near or want to heavily harvest coral reefs. By allowing players to craft coral blocks such as combining multiple coral fans of the same type the game would promote sustainability and give more value to smaller coral items that are otherwise underused.
This change would also align with how other blocks function in the game. For example, stone can be crafted into stone bricks, and quartz can be crafted into quartz blocks and decorative variants. These systems let players convert smaller or more common materials into more solid building blocks, encouraging creativity and reducing unnecessary grinding. Coral should follow this same logic, as it already exists in multiple forms but lacks a way to be recombined into its base block.
Adding a crafting recipe for coral blocks would not only make building more accessible but also encourage players to engage more thoughtfully with ocean environments rather than stripping them entirely. It maintains Minecraft’s core survival and crafting identity while improving consistency across block systems.
