I'd suggest adding a farming and cooking expansion that keeps all current Minecraft farming mechanics unchanged but adds optional depth and variety. Introduce new crops such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, cherries, cantaloupe, tomatoes, onions, corn, avocados, olives, and rice, all using existing crop behavior with mostly visual differences (bush-style berries like sweet berries, tall crops like corn and grapes, and melon-style crops like cantaloupe). Rework melons, pumpkins, and cantaloupe so that fully grown crops appear as smaller, more realistic blocks (about mob-head sized), which can be harvested into full blocks, with four small crops craftable into one full block, and a rare chance for a full-size block to grow naturally. Add an optional irrigation system where crops near water grow slightly faster, but player-built watering cans and redstone sprinkler systems can be used as an upgrade that improves yield instead of growth speed, creating a tradeoff between simple farming and optimized farming. Add flower seeds so flowers can be intentionally farmed in small garden plots for decoration, and introduce a simple cooking system with a cutting board and pot that allows basic food preparation like slicing crops, making soups, sandwiches, and fruit-based dishes, with failed combinations turning into usable compost or animal feed.
