Pet beds could expand the companion system by giving animals a true sense of home. Crafted from wool and wooden planks in a shape that resembles a real pet bed, they can be assigned by right-clicking while a pet is nearby or by leading the animal onto the bed. Once claimed, the bed becomes that animal’s anchor point. Pets will return to it at night, rest there when idle, and stay within a loose radius, making them feel like they belong in a specific place rather than wandering aimlessly.

This system would connect naturally with other mechanics. Pets could bring items they find while exploring back to their bed, treat it as a resting spot after playing, and spend more time there if they become overfed. Sleeping or resting in the bed would slowly increase trust and happiness, improving behavior and responsiveness. Personality traits would influence how they use it—dogs reliably return, while cats may ignore it and choose their own spots. Small details like circling before lying down or adjusting position would add immersion. Overall, this would make animals feel like real companions with routines, spaces, and behaviors that evolve over time.

Animals could have visible trust and chunk levels, where overfeeding causes them to progress from normal to chubby to maximum chunk, eventually limiting movement and even causing them to roll instead of walk. Exercise tools such as yarn balls for cats, fetchable bones for dogs, and food-based lures for other animals would allow players to actively reduce chunk levels while increasing happiness and strengthening bonds. Moods like lazy, energetic, or chaotic would influence how often animals play, rest, or respond to interaction, adding variety and personality to each companion.

When bored, animals could perform unique actions that make them feel more alive and useful. Dogs might dig and uncover items such as bones or small loot, pigs could root up food or occasionally find buried resources, chickens might scratch up seeds or extra drops, and cows could graze and produce small rewards over time. Advancements could support these systems, such as reaching maximum chunk, restoring an overfed animal through exercise, or having a pet successfully find and return an item. Together, these mechanics add depth, interaction, and personality, making animals feel dynamic and engaging rather than passive.
