Typically when exploring oceanic biomes in the 1.18 update it may be common to find deep trenches which could often be rich in resources such as iron, lapis, or even diamonds. However, if you do not have potions of water breathing on hand there may be no ability or reason to collect these ores. Even if you are able to collect these resources there is no form of immersion when doing so where it is only dark and relatively shallow. Although if new forms of ambiance or scenery are introduced it may not only allow more immersion but it could also provide new ways for players to explore their worlds and take on new challenges. For example, by adding blocks or vegetation around the caves that could act as a light source it could allow for an easier method of spotting resources considering that torches are unable to be placed underwater. By adding more underwater mobs into these structures it could allow for the settings to become livelier and more realistic as a result. Considering how in real life organisms that thrive in the abyssal plane may have bioluminescent parts of their bodies it could contribute to having unique mobs that create lighting around the caves other than only glow squids. However, new mobs in these areas could also allow for a danger for players as well. Hostile mobs that aren't necessarily based on actual animals could possibly appear causing for a higher risk when searching for resources. Thank you for reviewing my feedback and I hope you have a great day.
