Why obsidian shards?

Why obsidian shards? I see that this isn't really a new idea, but I have my own thoughts of ways that it might be. Drop an anvil at least 10 blocks down onto a block of obsidian for a random chance of breaking it dropping 9 obsidian shards. I liked the community's previous idea to use the shards for arrows that does extra damage in general and can hit endermen, so lets add that to the list of features. On the topic of obsidian arrows I say let it also ignite soul soul fire with fire aspect or when shot through fire. But what im proposing and would like to see is for obsidian shards to be used to make empty music disk.

Shards can applied to any block to prevent it from exploding, catching fire, or being mined under certain conditions. Blocks affected by obsidian shards can only be mined by diamond and netherite tools and weapons.

Crying Obsidian shards, can be obtained the same way as obsidian shards but at a even rarer rate. Blocks affected crying obsidian shards can only be broken with netherite. Crying obsidian shards can make crying obsidian arrows, which basically does the same as obsidian arrows, but will make any mobs who are hit run and flee away in fear for a short duration.

  Surrounding dragons breath with obsidian can grant the player 8 crying obsidian. Surround a netherite upgrade template with 8 crying obsidian shards to get 16 permanent shards. Permanent shards unlike obsidian shards and crying obsidian shards cannot be formed back and compacted together. Permanent shards makes it to where even netherite tools can't break blocks anymore, nothing can. Only hopes of getting rid of permanent affected blocks requires the use of glowstone dust on each individual block, allowing it to only be broken with netherite tools again. If trims had armor boost;

  Obsidian shards- more resistant to damage from weapon & tool tiers lower than iron

  Crying obsidian shards- more resistance to damage from weapon & tool tiers iron and lower.

  Permanent shards- more resistance to damage

  [Shard arrow Abilities]
  Obsidian shard arrows - break blocks thats at least as durable as stone
  Crying shard arrow-break blocks thats at least as durable as iron all except diamond
  Permanent shard arrows- Can break blocks as tough as diamond and netherite
  Prismarine shard arrows- Can shoot further and deals 2x more damage underwater or in liquid substances
  Amethyst shard arrows- Can break only dirt, sand and glass and ricochets off of slime, and honey. Plus it can extend potion duration for 10sec. It breaks when shot at blocks as durable
  as stone
  Echo shard arrows- Can drop a bit of extra xp on every successful hit on a mob or player and doesn't consume on hit either, allow it to always be recovered.
