Getting high-level enchantment books has become increasingly difficult, with players often stuck with low-level enchants at absurd prices. My idea introduces a new interaction between the Lectern and the Chiseled Bookshelf to give players more control over Villager trades.
Similar to how an Enchanting Table interacts with bookshelves, a Lectern placed near Chiseled Bookshelves filled with Enchanted Books would influence the Librarian's trades. If a player fills nearby shelves with specific enchanted books, the Librarian would have a significantly higher chance of offering those same enchantments (or similar ones) in their trade UI.
This gives the Chiseled Bookshelf a vital functional role beyond just storage or decoration. To keep it balanced:
The system would require a variety of different books to work effectively.
Stacking multiple copies of the exact same book wouldn't infinitely increase the percentage, preventing it from being too overpowered.
This mechanic would make the hunt for strong books more rewarding and strategic, turning the "trade reset" grind into a more immersive, goal-oriented library-building experience. It bridges the gap between the randomness of Java/Bedrock trading and a more logical progression system.
