I think that diamond and emerald ore could have a raw block much like the newly added blocks of raw iron, gold and copper. Of course, we don't want to ruin the satisfying feeling of breaking a diamond/emerald ore and getting the shiny gem presented to us. So as a way around this, I think they could add diamond and emerald ore chunks that you can find when they add the archaeology system. These chunks could be smelted into diamond or emerald; or alternatively, there could be some form of a brush to clean the ore chunk and you can obtain the diamond or emerald that way. This would not only be a fun way to find extra diamonds and emeralds but the ore chunks could then be crafted into a raw ore block similar to the rest. Imagine, a blue and green raw ore block, they would make for beautiful blocks. There could also be a more brown raw ore block made from netherite scraps.
Why this should be in Minecraft
I think we can all agree that archaeology is going to be a fascinating addition to Minecraft, and this suggestion would only make it that much more fun. Not to mention the building possibilities with the beautiful new raw ore blocks. Besides, who doesn't like another way to make diamonds and emeralds?
Design aspects
I think the ore chunks could be a similar size to the raw ores you can find in the game currently, but instead of being a solid golden or orangy colour, it could look like a chunk of stone with parts of diamond and emerald sticking out.
