This idea is to add eight new items to the game, six types of bark and two types of gills.
When the player uses his axe on a log or wood block, it turns into a stripped log or stripped wood block, and drops up to four or up to six "bark" items of the same variety as the log or wood block. That is, stripping oak logs yields up to four oak bark, stripping oak wood yields up to six bark, stripping jungle logs yields up to four jungle bark, etc.
Similarly, when the player uses his axe to strip crimson or warped hyphae, or crimson or warped stem, crimson or warped gill items drop, up to four from a stem and up to six from a hyphae.
Bark and gill items have a square texture, which looks like one side of their corresponding log or hyphae, before said block was stripped. The grain runs from the bottom of the item texture to the top.
Bark and gills can be placed in the world, on floors, walls, or ceilings, similarly to glowing lichen. Multiple bark or gills of the same type can be placed in a single block space, just as multiple glow lichen can be placed in a single block space.
The player can craft two oak bark and one oak log into to one oak wood; the other five wood variants can be crafted similarly. Also, two crimson gills and one crimson stem can be crafted into one crimson hyphae. Warped hyphae can be similarly crafted.
Bark or gills can be crafted with stripped logs or stripped wood or stripped stems or stripped hyphae, to produce the un-stripped version.
Lastly, the are fuel.
