Okay, so this idea is a bit out there, definitely not what I would expect to be added but not to far fetched either for a game that has come so far: More impactful, player story altering decisions!
I'll give you an example: You have reached the core of the deep dark city, and find yourself within the vault, here lies artefacts of great power, but also the heart of the skulk, and now the player may make the decision whether they wish to leave it intact and allow the skulk to live, or destroy it, killing off the entire organism in this location, the decision here could offer different benefits and drawbacks for each choice, or could be purely to decide the fate of the biome.
This scenario, and other decisions, could have an overarching effect on the players story, changing just a location, a biome or the entire world, and to tie it all together in a very rewarding way (or not depending on the actions taken) the choices made could be integrated into the post ender dragon dialogue, with the voices explaining, debating and judging what the player has done, possibly one or both being missing if a certain poor decision was made!
This would be best being a toggleable feature though, as multiplayer servers may suffer from independent players actions effecting all, though workarounds to this issue are also plausible.
Thank you for reading my idea! I think this could be a very interesting mechanic that fits with the development team's interest in player directed story.
