    The idea of the skulk being a hivemind is also an interesting idea that could be explored on its own, for example:


    Certain attacks on the blocks could delay the wardens attacks, or even enrage them!

    Defeating the warden could cause the decay of the skulk in the area, or destroying the heart (core block) of the skulk could have this effect. 

    Appeasing the skulk in some way, possibly by feeding a mouth or digestive epithelium like block, could calm down the warden or even make them temporarily an ally, though this may offset the risk reward of the deep dark and would have to be a rare block or balanced in some way.


    These are just a few I'm spitballing right now, but there is definitely potential for some interesting mechanics here!
