Since the Dark Oak Forest was added to Minecraft, it has always remained the same. The Dark Oak Forest is a good source for wood, but beyond that, holds no extra value. Furthermore, entering the forest is a danger on its own due to the extreme mob spawns (a hazard for early game), and roaming the floor of the Forest remains pointless as the leaves are easily traversable and can’t be maneuvered with a horse easily. Because of this, I believe it’s time the Dark Oak Forest received an update, which may fit extremely well in the upcoming 1.19, ‘The Wild Update.’ The Dark Oak Forest could be home to the new community-voted mob, the Allay. With its mystical properties, the Allay would feel right at home within the new and improved Forest, with an almost fairy-like feel. Within the Dark Oak Forest, is a new structure, the Illusioner Tower, which homes the forgotten mob, the Illusioner. Dark Oak Leaves would additionally gain more transparency, in order to reduce hostile mob spawns, making it a less dangerous journey in the early days of the game. Fallen, hollowed our trees would home the new mob, the glow beetle, which would illuminate the Forest and “eat” mushrooms. They would also drop its wings which could be used to brew new potions, such as a potion that would make fighting the Illusioner easier, by homing in on its true body, counteracting its powers. Rarely in the Forest, you may find a variety of bears close to abandoned campsites that may attack the player and Allays.
