Bold: Up to interpretation; the main point is that there should be an enchantment that utilizes the "soul" mechanic explained below.
With the addition of the new skulk growth blocks in 1.19, a Soul Steal enchantment for swords would be really great. It makes sense logically because as the betas work now, XP from killing an enemy causes the skulk to grow. This essentially works as a "soul" function from enemies, because their "souls" affect the world around them. Maybe as loot from the Deep Dark, the Soul Steal enchantment cannot be used on an item with Fire Aspect, Sharpness, Smite, or Bane of Arthropods, and it does a variety of things that are representative of enemies losing their souls (All effects only last for a certain duration, maybe two seconds). Undead enemies get the slowness effect, because without their souls they are just bodies. Creepers cannot explode, spiders cannot climb, silverfish cannot summon in as many silverfish, blazes' attacks no longer set you on fire, evokers cannot summon vexes, guardians cannot use thorns against you, and all enemies that inflict debuffs cannot inflict them for the duration of the sword's attack. This would be an endgame loot item, and should be extremely difficult to acquire.
TLDR; Endgame sword enchantment that makes the target lose a piece of itself for a couple seconds
