A number of craftable Living Backpacks which each have their own benefits and open up new gameplay possibilities. A normal backpack that would act like an early-game version of a shulker box and would provide 9 slots of storage along with a couple slots specifically for items like a compass and clock. On the model it would show them if equipped and would be great for exploration.
Once you reached a warped forest you could take vines and craft the Vine Backpack. It lacks the extra compass/clock slots but wraps around your arm and can become a make-shift grappling hook. This could be aimed at mobs to bring them closer to you in comabt.
Shulker Backpacks are made from Shulkers and are essentially living shulkers with straps so you can carry them around. When aiming with a bare hand it will fire a projectile that will hit hostile mobs. When nothing is there to target it hits you and gives you a very brief dose of levitation to help you navigate vertically.
Copper Golem Backpacks are made from a tiny copper golem that rides on your back or lives in your backpack. Their special ability is that they beep progressively faster when near valuable ores. Giving them an ore sample will let them know that you only care about that ore or block specifically.
