New Material with drawbacks
A new type of material called Desolation. You can infuse tools with it and they will not fully break similar to how the elytra works. You can keep using them in a limited capacity. For example a pickaxe will still mine but it will do so slower which encourages you to repair it. This seemingly OP utility comes at a cost. The more tools you infuse the higher the chance a block called Desolation will spawn. It spreads dark vine-like things which slowly seek out trees, crops, animals, grass, and other signs of life. The more careless you are in managing this Desolation the faster it will spread to the point where you might want to abandon your current area to go to another. When Desolation reaches enough of a chunk mobs are immune to sunlight, light levels are less effective at preventing spawns, and even peaceful mobs become hostile. Crops are almost impossible to grow and fishing only produces non-living catches like junk items and treasure. At the highest levels it can spawn wither skeletons in the overworld, end, or nether.
