While the wild update is a new update with not much known besides swamp and deep dark, I've thought of ways to improve just the regular forest which consists of grass and trees.
To start off, the Forest should contain some exclusive mobs. Which mobs? Raccoons and Deer. Raccoons would scavenge the forest for food while deer would be a new food source.
Next, cave changes for forest biomes. I feel each biome should give caves a little bit of character and change. For example, under a forest/jungle we could find mossy stone/deepslate and vines in various spots.
Next, forest floor improvement. More berry bushes should exist with different berries. Perhaps black berries? Next there should be little quarries on the surface where iron, coal, and copper can be found and excavated. .
Next, abandoned and not so abandoned log cabins. Could introduce new mob or could just simply put a villager or vindicator in these log cabins. Either way, would make a nice structure for the biome. Could even have a bit of both with rng defining what mob occupies the cabin.
Lastly, and most importantly: New and improved tree designs. The current shape is cool and all but it is definitely time for a new tree design.
