The new caves added to the 1.17 and 1.18 update are amazing, unique, interesting, and still feel vanilla. However, I feel that there was some missed potential with this update regarding the different cave types and formations. I think there should be more cave generations, they don't have to be new biomes, just different formations and generations. In real life there are 7 main types of cave; Ice Caves, Sea Caves, Solution Caves, Lava Caves, Wind Caves, Rock Shelters, and Talus Caves. Most of these can be done without having to add any new blocks, mainly just new generation. Ice Caves would generate in Ice Capped Peaks, and Glaciers, as well as other icey biomes. Sea Caves would generate by the ocean in the sides of cliffs and would be very open looking. Solution Caves are very similar to Dripstone Caves, Lava Caves are long and narrow and would most likely generate as long tunnels near the bottoms of mountains. Wind Caves are formed by strong wind eroding holes into rock by essentially sandblasting them, these are very common in deserts and is where they would generate. Rock Shelters are formed when softer rock is eroded after being surrounded by harder rocks, these would most likely generate with aquifers. And finally Talus Caves are formed by boulders and large rocks that fall down hills and mountains and pile up forming interconnected tunnels in the spaces between the boulders, these would generate at the base of mountains or in meadows.
