One plant I'd be really in favor of is the butterwort. Most people don't seem to know about them, so it'd be good if they got some recognition. To sum them up, butterworts are basically aquatic carnivorous plants that produce beautiful yellow flowers on stalks at their surface, while below have pouch-like organs located on their roots that suck in and digest very small aquatic animals. And while I don't think they should display that carnivorous behavior ingame, it'd still be a unique and very fitting plant to see in the swamps.

Another post suggested adding in weeping willow trees to the swamp, and I think that concept fits well with your idea (all of the following bits though are just my take on willow trees though). Visually I imagine they'd have drooping leaves and vines (maybe thick ones like the glowberry vines) and they could have a grey-tinted wood (both planks and logs). These would spawn with (if not in the place of) the oak trees in swamps (excluding the mangrove swamps) and would provide an additional color for planks since many people want more wood types. They would spawn perhaps 2-5 blocks away from a water source and would grow 10-15 blocks tall since willow trees are fairly tall in real life.
