In real-life there are more lava variations than just one.
- White-Hot (>1150°C / >2100°F): Extremely hot, freshly erupted lava.
- (Inflicts more damage than the default orange-yellow lava. Rarer than the default yellow-orange lava and Bright Red in the Overworld. However, there's a higher chance of finding it in the Nether.)
- Bright Red (800°C–1000°C / 1470°F–1830°F): Typical glowing lava as it begins to cool.
- (Common in the Overworld, just like the default orange-yellow lava. Rarer to find in the Nether.)
- Dark Red/Brownish Red (500°C–800°C / 930°F–1470°F): Cooling, sluggish lava.
- (Rarer than the default yellow-orange and Bright Red in the Overworld. Very rare in the Nether.)
- Black/Dark Grey: The most common color for solid basaltic lava.
- (Would exist solely in the Nether, very common in the Basalt Deltas biome.)
- Electric Blue (Kawah Ijen, Indonesia): This is caused by high-pressure sulfuric gases that ignite at temperatures over 600°C, creating a blue flame that looks like electric blue lava, especially at night.
- (Very rare in the Overworld. Doesn't exist in the Nether)
- Iridescent/Purple/Gold (Hawaii): Freshly cooled lava rock can sometimes show iridescent colors, purples, and gold due to the refraction of light on glassy, iron-rich surfaces [Pele's tears].
- (It would be even rarer than Electric Blue in the Overworld. Doesn't exist in the Nether)
More lava variations would also mean more lava bucket variations in the inventory.
