In a tweet a long time ago, kingbdogs said that in the current build, the Warden burns in the sunlight, like a skeleton or a zombie. However, the Warden isn’t the average hostile. It is a terrifying and unique monster. As such, it needs to be set apart from the other mobs. My idea is that it turns to stone in the sun like the trolls did in the Hobbit. This would be an amazing detail. It also has some benefits besides being cool. These are:
- It would be so difficult to bring the Warden to the surface that the player is still better off avoiding it.
- If for some reason the player did decide to take on this task, it would force them to be extremely creative.
- The now stone Warden could be a cool monument that players can look at to remind them how much they had accomplished in that world.
- There would not be Wardens just roaming around on the surface all of the time, because that would just seem extremely out of place.
- It would be very poetic and ironic, because in the trailer, it showed the Warden coming from the ground, when leaving, it returns to being ground.
- It would be a very unique mechanic never before seen
My inspiration for this is the trolls from the Hobbit, as well as gargoyles, which are stone sentries that protect castles.
