Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Duckweed

With a focus on making the world of Minecraft more atmospheric in The Wild Update, I propose a new plant to be added into Minecraft.

Duckweed would be a carpet-like block generated in chunks on top of water in swamps, and occasionally, rivers. Bodies of water covered by this plant would spawn, or at least have a higher chance of spawning, Tadpoles (in real life, duckweed is an important food for many species of frog).

When mined with shears, they give a placeable version which can only be put on water sources or on full cauldrons.

This unique block would make bodies of water more lush and interesting, and would also be the first block to be able to be supported by water.

    It should be partially transparent, slow boats but be possible to traverse.

    It should also be intangible so that you can move through it, kind of like how paintings, and vines work, so while it is on top of the water, it doesn't block you from surfacing, or diving into the water, and adds to the atmosphere of the wetlands.
