The 1.18 Caves and Cliffs is on horizon, and the 1.19 Wild Update has been announced and showcased in Minecraft Live. I utterly love the Warden's animations, which was also showcased, and that it adds new gameplay elements to the game. It got me thinking on something on something that's been on my mind for a while.
An update not focusing on new content, but rethinking and reworking everything that's already there with today's standards in mind. For example, dolphins and pandas do so much more than pigs and cows, who just walk around by default. Their animations could use a little spice after so much time, and the Wild Update's Mud could serve as a playground for pigs. Extend this kind of creative thinking to most of, if not all aspects of the game. Breeding, brewing (would love to see brewing in cauldrons), farming, weather, anything that comes to mind may be worth thinking about.
Ask the question: If this was added to Minecraft today, what would it be like?
Then who knows. Maybe the next update could look at new content again, uncraftable items to loot to make adventuring more interesting? Topic for another post.
