a skulk infector is a block that when any player/mob walks on it it will give the skulking effect. that mob/player now has 60 seconds to live. milk is used to remove the effect. the skulking effect will slow you down more and more every 2 seconds until the 40 second mark when you cant move at all. skulk will also start to creep in from the sides of the screen and the player/mob's texture at the 6 second mark until the 50 second mark where they cover your vision completely. once this happens you will loose one heart every second until you die. the death message is "<playername> became one with skulk" but instead of the mob or player's body disappearing it will remain there like a statue called a skulk shuck. skulk sensor flanges will also come out of the head and behave like normal. the armor/items will also remain on the body of the shuck. breaking it gives your items and some skulk block. after one day the armor/weapons will be skulk corroded counterparts, all items would become skulk nutrients (see warden larva post), all blocks will be converted to skulk, and breaking it gives those items. after two days the armor/weapons will also become nutrients and when broken also yields a warden embryo (see warden lava post). on the third day it explodes, drops skulk block and spawns a warden lava (see warden larva post). if the player stepped on more than one infector you will die faster (x2 per) and more larva will spawn (+1 per). see skulk infector advancements post.
