I think the coper golem should have a second chance.Because the allay is just like the glow squid remolded. The glow squid is just a squid the allay is just the vex
I think the copper golem needs to be taken back to the drawing board. It has great potential, but what we don't really want is random button presses. Give it some way to make its button pressing predictable/programmable. Make its oxidisation states change how it behaves. Allow it to be waxed in any state. Essentially, make it more useful and desirable of a mob. It's not a bad Idea, but it needs more development IMO.
Personally, the random button pressing wasn't functional enough, love the design and I would love more golems, but the Allay looks to be more useful. That being said I hope eventually more golems will be added, even a copper one, but their focuses should be on "Quality of Life" being automation for farms, fishing, lumber, maybe even cobblestone block breakers.
The aging mechanic the introduce gives more balance to doing automation, and you could set a limited life span based on how often it's refreshed. Though if done this way once waxed the golem would either move slower or would be frozen like a statue. I would prefer player-made constructs to handle Quality of Life automation than using the serfdom approach we have for farming currently. And a constant request is for automation, with magic, Golems are a clear choice for this line of work, literally built for the job. Now to add more balance it may require some treasure-level loot to build golems however I think most players would take that trade.
I think they should give it another chance. It would be a good thing to have another golem, and it would also give copper more use .. And it looks cute.
