Minecraft could use more sedimentary rocks and more wood colors. These could be added via fantasy-themed trees with colored leaves and wood. This would improve on the selection of building and landscaping materials. A variety of new stones and soils could be crafted by combining the soil and stone types that are already in the game. This will add geologic variety. For example, dirtstone could be crafted using 4 dirt blocks. Real geology has a variety of soil mixtures, and any of these soils can become stone after being buried in the earth for millions of years. A variety of brown tones exist in the bedrock of the Connecticut River Valley, where I live. It would make more sense if the stone underneath the dirt was dirtstone instead of the gray, volcanic stone that is used, currently. I also think that because of the meaning of the term ‘bedrock’, bedrock in Minecraft should be renamed to ‘voidrock’. This is because the stone underneath the dirt is technically bedrock. Bedrock is not a stone type. It is a term for any rocky material that makes up the bulk of the earth’s crust that underlies the soil on top of it. These additions and changes would relate the Minecraft world to the real world, making the game more immersive.
