Either its own structure or an updated mineshaft, this old structure has the light mechanics from the skulk biome, and has a few other mechanics, making it more rewarding than the average mineshaft, but far more challenging and unnerving to travel, not to mention nightmarishly hard to mine out:
New sounds + old cave sounds: Using old (like cave sounds 17 and 18) and new sounds, it could amplify the effect of other features that make this place so weary. not to mention, the sounds could scale with your health and effects, and are almost non-existent when you eat a notch apple, but become very unsettling after being attacked and slowly get worse, the best way to survive is to keep that health up and get going fast
New mobs (also wardens will sometimes spawn here):
Hosts: Humanoid mobs that have skulk and mushroom outgrowths, these can ride minecarts towards you, they drop mushrooms and occasionally picks when they die
Skulk Leeches: Rather sneaky mobs that are relatively quiet, and apply slowness when they hit you, though they only have 8 health, can drop teeth used with drops from the main reward of the shaft
Loot: While the mines have a slight ore boost. the spirit geodes are where most of the loot is, there are only a few per shaft (these are big shafts too), but the closer you are, the more aggressive the structure is until you reach it, this geode has a special mushroom called the exalted cap, and sapphire crystals, the exalted caps can only be grown when lit up by sapphire.
