So I really like what 1.18 is going for, and I just can't wait to get back on my phone and begin playing with the new caves... although I'd really like to see a new Mountain structure, hence this suggestion:
Magma caverns / Lava tubes
The lava tube could be a new cave that appears within certain snowy and stony peaks, often making a funnel surrounding lava at the center when inside large caverns. however, there's a 25% chance that at the bottom of these tubes, a whole floor below the mountain would be found, known as the Magma cavern, a huge cavern with rivers of lava and Obsidian towards the center, decorated with besalt pillars (making it the only overworld area where besalt can be found). inside this cavern, Magma cubes will spawn, giving players an early taste of what's to come in their future journey (also can be guessed by the obsidian lining the floor, with lava right below it.)
By adding this new feature, mountains and their caves can be expanded upon, essentially adding volcanos without the need of natural disasters. It could also give players hints towards their inevitable trip to the nether.
