This feedback is to split differences between the uncooked, white clay block and cooked, red brick variants. The suggestion is to maintain naturally-spawning white clay but to also have new, naturally-spawning, uncooked red clay in similar biomes.
White clay would produce white clay balls and cook into white bricks. Red clay would produce red clay balls and cook into (currently implemented) red bricks. Both brick types could craft into brick variants and offer blending for builders using granite or diorite. Implementing a naturally spawning gray block and subsequent brick variants could also be a blending material for andesite, though stone bricks could be effective as well.
The furthest concept for this update could also include ways to adapt brick colors when cooking clay balls. In real pottery studios, clay is often colored by combustible metals or dyes. Mixing dyes with gunpowder could produce "flux," a material specifically used for cooking/dying clay balls. While this practice is used in pottery production to achieve brilliant results, there could be an added affect where using "flux" might cause a furnace to explode. The chance would have to be very slim and produce minimal damage, though it could be an interesting feature.
In total, the suggestions are to split naturally spawning white clay with naturally spawning, uncooked red clay blocks. The suggestion also includes dyeable "flux," providing more colorful brick variations.
