The pickaxe is arguably the most important tool in Minecraft. Its signature traits are the blocks it can mine and the speed at which it can do so. Why, then, are those stats not included in the tooltip? How can I tell if my efficiency IV iron pick is faster than my efficiency I diamond one? This issue can be solved by including the mining speed (and optionally the mining level) of the pickaxe in the tooltip.
The mining speed stat would be the number of natural stone blocks it can mine in one second. For instance, a diamond pickaxe would have a mining speed stat of 2.5, and efficiency V would boost it to 3.6. The tooltip would reflect this stat as efficiency enchantments ratchet it upward.
The mining level stat would be the equivalent material. This would prevent people from trying to mine gold ore with a golden pickaxe and failing miserably (of course, you could just buff gold tools so that's not a problem anymore).
In conclusion, including the mining speed in the pickaxe's tooltip would improve players' experience by making it more straightforward to compare their tools and helping mapmakers customize tools for the ultimate story experience.
