In it's current state it reminds me of Lapis pre-1.8 where it doesn't really have a renewable need for mining. Iron, Gold, Coal, Redstone, Lapis and Diamonds are all required for a number of uses that cause your stockpile to dip in supply over time, Copper despite it's frequency doesn't have this. You're rarely ever gonna need to replace your spy glass, you're rarely gonna need a new lightning rod for your roof and the rest of the uses for the block only apply if you want to use Copper for building your house which literally apply to every other block in the game.
If I were to offer a suggestion as to what it should do then I'd say maybe add copper pipes that act like Hoppers but are omni-directional / can flow upwards or only hold one item slot. Hoppers are expensive as shit so it could really help with survival redstone, hell if water was able to be transported it could be really useful for both redstone AND building. Imagine if it had a thin water stream, it could be used for making showers, water sprinklers, sewers, etc. Honestly I think Copper should be more integrated into Redstone in general, it already has a technical aesthetic driven by steampunk art so I think that there should be at least some technical uses for it outside of finding out when there's a lightning strike.
This is just spit balling and I assume the team has to be aware of this by now but just about any addition to copper to make it genuinely useful would be greatly appreciated
