Generation of Granite, Deepslate Etc. By Placing Blocks Under Source Fluids

Currently, it's possible to create generators for blocks other than stone/cobblestone by using blocks like blue ice and soul soil. It would be great to see this idea expanded by allowing for the generation of granite, deepslate, blackstone, and the like through a similar method; perhaps placing a block of quartz under the lava source and diorite under the water source would create granite instead of cobblestone (basing that off of the crafting recipe for granite), or deepslate of any kind under the lava would make the generator produce cobbled deepslate instead. This will make it easier to renewably produce these materials and would serve as a natural evolution of the cobblestone generator system.

    Solid idea. Perhaps for all except Blackstone, because I kind of feel like it's meant to be harder to get? I'm not sure, like the idea either way. Maybe even more special ways could work, like how Basalt is generated from flowing Lava that is above Soul Soil and next to Blue Ice.

    Variant stone generators sound very Minecraft, I like it! especially with the new blocks that would make excellent build textures that can be hard to fine. I actually like calcite and tuff but it's a bit difficult to use them for big builds in survival.

    I really agree that other stone variants (especially deepslate) should have their own renewable generation methods. A more simple way to do this could be making any cobblestone generated directly above a stone variant generate that variant instead.
