I don't know where you got the impression that Minecraft started as a survival game. Heck, in the beginning it didn't even have enemies let alone a "survival" mode. It started as a simple block building game and eventually gained survival elements as development continued. Minecraft's "roots" are as a pure sandbox game and that is and will always be the main focus in the game regardless of how many new survival and combat mechanics are implemented.

It's just as survival based as it's always been. It was never intended to be an exclusively survival based game. They started as a sandbox, and it will always be a sandbox.

I like the idea of what you are saying, i would love to see new mobs implemented to the game, more challenge to it and make everything just a little more difficult.

But i think things like dehydration and moods are not going to make the game more hard, but more annoying. If you think about it the only things that these features are going to accomplish is making the player spend more time on himself and less time actually building, farming and doing what they want to do.

They could still implement these features in the way of Hardcore, it would fit it incredibly well and it would make the game in hardcore actually hard (Because when you get to netherite there is really nothing that can stop you really)

    :)
