Minecraft has always been for many types of player, those that like exploration and combat with mobs and those to like to build large builds, some in creative and some build megabuilds in survival. You may think the new generation is cool, but it is not conducive to the megabuilder. When I heard of the height increase I was excited, but as a survival builder, I can not imagine building those tall builds I hoped for when I will have to clear nearly 300 meter mountains by hand, it might work in creative, but not survival. I run a vanilla building server, we build only in survival, and our players are very upset by the massive changes. Some change is good, but this is way overdone. It is not really Minecraft anymore. Search for places like "Imperial City" on youtube and tell me how that can be done in survival with so many huge mountains and little to no low land? It would take forever to clear. Add to that the zero light level spawning and it will break just about every type of mob farm we have, even single redstone torch would be too much light. We need to have control over how much the worlds change, you could have settings, full 1.18 changes and custom settings to make it more suitable to builders. Otherwise our server will be either staying with 1.17.1 or closing, as it looks like 1.18 leaves builders out in the cold.
