Ok, I know, this would be a big deal for the programmers, but please hear me out:
I would like to see a new item in the game: the encyclopedia! It looks like a book, and it's crafted out of bamboo and paper. If you hold it in your main hand and right-click on a cartography table, the encyclopedia opens and the inner side of a book with several pages will show up.
The first page will show you a map of your generated world with your position marked with a red cross. You can see all the colorful biomes you have discovered and your buildings. On the next pages, you can find a list of your advancements, the ores you have yet mined and the things you have crafted out of these. The type of the ores and where you have found them are also shown on the map.
The pages all will contain some pictures (ores, pickaxes, also your individual skin) and the entire encyclopedia will give you a nice-looking overview of your own Minecraft world.
I think, this would be a nice additional feature and you'll feel more like a real adventurer and explorer and it will highly improve the game.
The encyclopedia automatically updates with every tick (or with every world reload, otherwise I think it would be too much for most PCs)
