Signs won't stop water and lava

Plates shouldn't magically stop threads. Plates can be washed off like torches or immersed in liquids (but not like now, when you need to separately pour a bucket of water inside the plate. Perhaps, you need to make sure that the flow passes through the block, regardless of whether the plate is there or not. It will probably spoil slightly all sorts of imbalance farms, but this is a small price.

    There are always talks of more waterlog blocks, which would make sense for signs and pressure plates, personally, I think wood signs and plates should burn when touching lava, which then you need to use stone variants to deal with. As for Minecraft's odd fluid physics given how established. I don't see it changing quickly especially if there's no workaround to keep some of the functionality of water transport systems.
