what if dry or warm biome also have a new mountain. this mountain would need quicksand that make mob sink and suffocate. while lush biome maybe can generate a highland which have strawberry. desert lake would be beautiful if generate oasis. structure such as , jungle temple, desert temple, village, dungeon and stronghold need to revamp to make them more beautiful.

I just played the 1.18 snapshot, and I love it, but it could use some changes.

    1. The mountain generation is incredible, but absolutely NUTS! For example, I was in creative, flying around, and massive random floating islands and 1 by 1 pillars shot out. I recommend maybe smoothing out the hill generation to make it look more natural.

    2. The caves are awesome, but they take over a lot. For example, I was in a village and a big exposed dripstone cave cut right in front of a villager house. I recommend having the caves be underground if within 15 blocks of a structure, so they don't overlap.

I have tested the experimental snapshot 1, 2, 3 & 4 all in survival. Each time Steve died I have started a new random word. 95% I played the seed that was given to me.

I’m a big fan of the new world generation, but I have no idea how you want to make it upwards compatible with 1.17 world generation.

    Here are some remarks:

The new mountains are exiting and inviting to explore. On top they are well integrated.

The caves are a totally new experience. The big once come with wow effect. I particular like the implementation of the small and more claustrophobic one.

Playing 1.18 for a while I come up with an issue list related to game play:

    Biome placement:

The new temperature map is a phantastic enhancement. Gives a more consistence and intuitive feeling. I have not issue with micro biomes, as long as the overall generation fits together.

    Dessert:

Deserts are a bit boring. There are mostly smooth. I’m missing some more stony sections, with a bit higher local noise level. I like sandstone as building block. Currently the only place to get bigger amount of sandstone are some of sockets of the pyramids. But also, these are back to a reasonable size in the 4th snapshot. I like the idea of less water filled rivers in dry biomes.

Fix: I would add some more stony and harsh desert areas where the desert reaches out to cliffs or hilly / mountain areas.

Overall, 1.18 is inviting the player to spend more time to explore the environment both above and below the surface. It takes longer to select a place for living. If you want to test out all the new functionality available mining can get stressful. In general mining is more time consuming. You must go to different levels to find the ores. Iron is always short in all phases of the game, but there is sufficient iron available if the player does know, where to search.

I do not recommend increasing iron availability above the 4th snapshot. Instead I would give cupper more use cases where it makes sense. I propose to have alternative recipes for buckets, cauldrons, hoppers and bars. Where iron gets replaced by cupper. This would not have a big impact on the game mechanics but reduce the shortage of iron a bit. Iron cauldrons, hoppers and bars would have the same functionality but should have their unique look

Powder snow is nice feature added in 1.18 would generation.

It is a new challenge in traveling around mountain areas I don’t want to miss.

There are serios issues for pets, if you build a base or travel around in area with powered snow that needs adaptions in the game.

Dogs might freeze to death to follow Steven in power snow. Path finding needs to be improved to avoid powder snow.

Llamas of wandering trader might freeze. To me this is a bug as the should be protected by waring a carpet. Carpets should protect Llamas in general from freezing.

There is now way to protect donkeys from freezing but they are living in meadows nearby powder snow. I there should be a way to make them capable to deal with this.

By the way: horse riding is much improved in 1.18.  Although there is more difference in would hight there is nearly allways a ridable path. Rivers have frequently cross over points.

    Well done.
