it would be cool if there were books from villagers, illagers, telling their daily lives, or books with small stories like the ones that Minecraft have posted online and even some tips or information about mobs like how there could be a book that tells the legend of the nether, or a book detailing an adventure or short story of another past player or traveler which you could find in chests.
it would provide new life and could be turned on or off in world generation settings, it could be used as a way to in-game tell someone how to enter the nether or about the ender dragon, it could be even used as a way to build self-made lore people have made about Minecraft by not directly telling them they are right in the books, but that there a possibility with their theories, neither supporting nor denying them but encouraging them to world-build like they do in-game.
There could even be a new achievement called "Traveller Journal" when you find one of these books.
