Minecraft already includes great accessibility features like the narrator and text-to-speech for menus and chat. However, character dialogue in Marketplace worlds is not read aloud by the narrator.
This creates a barrier for many players, especially young children and players with reading disabilities.
For example, the Bluey Minecraft world is clearly designed for younger players who love the show. However, many of those children are still learning to read. When they interact with characters, the instructions only appear as text. Even with narrator accessibility settings enabled, the dialogue is not spoken aloud.
Because of this, children who cannot read must rely on a parent or older sibling sitting next to them to progress through the story. It prevents them from independently enjoying the experience.
Enabling narrator support for NPC dialogue in Marketplace worlds would make a big difference. It would allow younger players to follow story instructions, improve accessibility for players with dyslexia or visual impairments, and make family-friendly worlds truly accessible to their intended audience.
Minecraft has always been a leader in accessibility and inclusive design. Allowing scripted dialogue to be read by the narrator, or providing a standard way for Marketplace creators to support it, would help many players enjoy these experiences more independently.
Thank you for considering this accessibility improvement.
