Minecraft is a really positive part of playtime in our home. My young kids use it for creative worlds, building, learing, exploration, and setting traps for their dad LOL. It has truly been one of the best digital experiences we’ve introduced.
One recurring friction point for us is the Marketplace tab. Occasionally Marketplace displays promotional artwork that includes dark and more intense imagery. I have to explain that some of the (bloody/scary) add ons are for big kids and grown ups and I help them move off that screen. Recently, my 4 year old found herself on marketplace and the top level content was Huggy and Friends. She was staring at it, frightened and totally frozen. She then had lots of questions about why she was having scary feelings about her game that she previously felt 100% safe inside.
A setting that allows the Marketplace tab to be hidden from the interface would make a meaningful difference for families like ours. It would allow parents to tailor the experience while leaving the Marketplace fully intact for everyone else.
Minecraft is such a fantastic platform for kids, and a small visibility control like this would greatly improve the experience for households with young players.
