Initially, the player doesn't know what enchantments mean.
And when a player enchants an item using an enchantment table or an anvil, they don't know what enchantment they've applied. To find out, they need to use the item for its intended purpose, and only when the enchantment is activated do they learn the enchantment and learn its type and name
Learning an enchantment allows the player to see the name of all enchantments of the same type. By studying a protection book, the player will see other types of protection, such as projectile protection, blast protection, and fire protection
This would force even experienced players to check enchantments before applying them. It would also help newcomers understand enchantments
It adds variety to interactions with the enchanting table. It also forces players to search for enchantment books and then study them
- Fire protection allows the player to distinguish between the type of fire enchantment (flame or fire aspect)
- Flame [arrow-related] ↔ multishot, piercing, punch
- Multishot ↔ Infinity
- Piercing [piercing spells] ↔ breach
- Aqua Affinity [water-related] ↔ depth strider, frost walker
- Depth strider [on boots] ↔ frost walker, swift sneak, soul speed
- Punch [repulsion] ↔ knockback, thorns
- Looting [looting] ↔ fortune, luck of the sea
- Curse of Vanishing or Curse of Binding: The player learns of the curse mark
