Good day Mojang Team,
Minecraft is a game about distinct textures and interactions, yet the PS5 version lacks proper DualSense support. Implementing Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers would make the console version unique and incredibly immersive.
Here is a specific proposal for how different actions should feel:
1. Locomotion & Terrain Haptics (Haptic Feedback) The controller should mimic the texture of the block the player is traversing using different vibration frequencies:
-
Sand: A gritty, "prickly" sensation focused on the lower frequencies to simulate sinking into grains.
-
Stone/Wood: A solid, dull thud with each step.
-
Flying (Elytra): A continuous, smooth hum that varies with speed/wind resistance.
2. Combat & Projectiles
-
Bow/Crossbow Impact: When hitting a target with an arrow, the controller should produce a sharp, thin, high-frequency "piercing" sensation. It should feel completely different from the blunt force of a sword or axe.
-
Taking Damage: Directional haptics are essential. If a mob attacks from the left, only the left actuator should trigger, letting the player feel exactly where the danger is coming from.
3. Interaction (Adaptive Triggers)
-
Mining: The R2 trigger should have varying resistance based on block hardness (e.g., Obsidian feels heavy/jammed, Dirt feels light).
-
Drawing a Bow: The L2/R2 triggers should stiffen as the bowstring is pulled back, simulating tension.
Please consider bringing these features to PS5. I think it would be a game-changer!
