Hello Mojang Studios Team,
I’m writing as a long-time Minecraft player to share feedback regarding a potential Java and Bedrock merge. If this ever happens, it’s extremely important that Java Edition PvP is preserved and not replaced by Bedrock-style combat.
Java PvP is a core part of Minecraft’s competitive identity. Its mechanics, cooldowns, precise timing, hit registration, and movement have supported a massive PvP community for years. Entire ecosystems exist around it, including servers, tournaments, content creators, and player-made techniques that simply don’t translate to Bedrock combat.
Bedrock PvP is fundamentally different. It relies more on spam-clicking, inconsistent knockback, and device-based advantages, which changes the skill expression entirely. Forcing one combat system across both editions would risk alienating a huge portion of the Java player base that values mastery, balance, and consistency.
If a merge were to occur, a toggleable or separate PvP system would be the best solution allowing Java PvP to remain intact while still supporting Bedrock players. This respects both communities without sacrificing what makes each edition unique.
Minecraft has always thrived because of player freedom. Preserving Java PvP would honor that legacy and show respect to the competitive community that helped shape the game.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to player feedback and for continuing to support Minecraft’s diverse community.
Sincerely,
LonkinThe1
